Lamesauce–thanks Amazon

So i found out from CoG today that Amazon has decided they will no longer be publishing ‘content apps’ on kindle.  This of course, means all CoG games…including Way Walkers.  Now we had been waiting to release the game on kindle until we had both part one and two done (b/c kindle doesn’t support the saved game feature) but now the only option is to submit the single first half just so we have SOME kind of Way Walkers presence on kindle before the actual novel comes out.  However, there is no promise that Amazon will approve of the Way Walkers first half because of it’s ‘cliffhanger ending’ and NO possibility of kindle readers to ever see the second half at all.

To my fans, my deepest apologies.  To Amazon: thanks a bunch, you suck.

Blargle

^ my word for when things aren’t going as planned.  I’ve been down the last week with a pretty nasty cold, and have been just barely dragging myself into work.  Needless to say i have little brain left for writing, though i’ve been working on other things in little snippets.  I finished a picture i’ve been picking at since august, and started in on some of the WW:U artwork for the sequel.  I was also given the Dragonborn expansion for Skyrim for Valentine’s day, so in between my blurry sick i’ll be off killing tentacled dragon-born servants or something.  XD

Anyways, enjoy the art and have a good holiday!Image  Umbrave in progress.  ^_^

Culling the herd….

So, in a rush attempt to get as much done as possible before i’m inundated with the editing of Way Walkers: Tazu, i’ve been pouring over the notes for WW:U, and have come to a simple, but important conclusion.  I’ve been tossing this around for a while, but now it shines ever the more clear:  In order to get this down to a manageable size, i’m going to have to start ending certain plot line threads.  And the easiest and best way to do this is how they went about it in the original Choose Your Own Adventure series: by killing off the main character.  Pertinently.

I plan to try and kill everyone off well and logically, depending on what choices have been made, so it’s still a decent reading experience despite the earlier ending.  Keep in mind this will mostly apply to main characters who have been refusing to follow the main plot line, have made some nasty enemies, or honestly have gotten far too Red for the their own good.  XD  It’s wont really apply to arbitrary choices, so don’t worry; deciding to confront the bully won’t lead to your untimely demise–however, choosing to go headlong against Semryu….not so good an idea.  Also, as the story progresses, there will be an increase in the possibility of deaths, simply to again, cull the herd of possible threads.  While this might lead to some slightly agitated readers who keep making wrong choices, it will ultimately help me keep my sanity, cut down on the volume i have to write, and possibly (and its a big possibly) allow for another sequel in the storyline.  MAYBE.

You have been warned.

Let the slaughter begin.

Contract

So, i officially signed, notarized and mailed in the contract today for Way Walkers: Tazu.  My beloved Jathen will soon be available for the world to read.  It’s….humbling.

Beyond that, however, is the loom of reality: the editing process.  While i am honestly far, far less nervous over this than i ever thought i would be thanks to the good folks at Red Adept, i still find my self measuring the reality in my mind of needing to trim nearly 80,000 words from my 220,000 word epic in order to meet the printing requirements.  XD  It’s maddening, but as i said, i am calmer than expected.  I trust my new editors and publisher.  ^_^

The other reality is the delay i know this will cause with the CoG sequel to WW:U.  I honestly dont know how much this will need to get shuffled, as i have no idea how long the editing process will be for Jathen.  And then, of course, Jathen’s sequel will need to be finished as well.  What a wonderful problem to have, i think, so many projects to be finished and so many people who will want to see them.  ^_^

I’m looking forward to this ride.

Getting Published!

So, my loyal fans and minions, this is the big news! After countless submissions and rejections, Way Walkers: Tazu has been offered a contract by Red Adept Publishing!!! There’s still a lot of work to be done, editing and tweaking (we need to cut almost 80,000 words to make it fit) –so i don’t have a release date yet, but in 2013, a Way Walkers novel shall be hitting the shelves!!!!!!! 😀

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Update on insanity….

Okay, so ya’all have been bugging me for updates…so here ya go:

I’ve finished the *coding (I think) for the dance scene of the WW:U sequel. It’s fast-approaching 30,000 words (not counting coding) and i’m pretty sure that it’ll beat-out 40k before i’m done, as i still have three of the date conversations to write-up AND the versions of the Sem-prank where you are A)not dating him and B) are trying to stop him.

So you get an idea of what that means for the game overall, the dating-dance scene will be the bulk of the ‘third chapter’ as i track such things. The ‘first chapter’ is done, which consists of another 2 scenes. The ‘second chapter’ is all plotted-out in *coding, but its maybe about 45% done as far as actual writing–it’s one of the bigger chapters because it consists of four scenes similar to the ‘hooky’ chapter in the first part, where u can choose to go with Sem or attend orientation. SO that makes this a four scene chapter even though you’ll only actually see three of them during any one read-through.

And before anyone asks: No, i have NO IDEA how many chapters there are going to be! At least, not yet. DX

And on a further note, so you guys also know whats up with the novels:

I currently have two Way Walkers novels finished, one set in the Clan Lands and one in the Tazu Nation. Both of these represent the beginning of a longer series, though the Tazu Nation one is slotted as a trilogy and the Clan Lands one…well i have no clue how long that insanity shall stretch. Both these books have been sent to many a publisher; they have all been rejected based on a very simple flaw:

They are WAY too LONG. (one is over 220k words and 700 pages, the other is over 260k words and 900pgs)

So, what’s been going on behind closed doors is the editing/trimming/spiting of these books, so some publisher somewhere will want them. Sadly though, b/c i am poor, all this editing and trimming falls to me to do–and it’s tough going when i’m not sure what choices to make as far as what to keep and what not to. Now, we’re still submitting and i’m trying to recruit help, but we just got to see where the chips fall. And of course, i’m doing all this while trying to work on the WW:U sequel, find a another part-time job, or pick up a full time one.

But i’m fighting.

Behind closed doors….

Anyways, i know it’s been a bit quiet around here, and i just wanted to let those loyal followers of mine know that *things* have been going on behind closed doors.  Some pretty big decisions regarding Way Walkers have been getting thrown around, but i don’t want to say anything specific until i’ve really decided how i want to proceed, and if i actually have the means to do so.  However, i do want to squish one rumor that’s been floating about: i will not give up on this world.  It is true that i’ve hit some personal roadblocks regarding some things–but i am not giving up.  You’ve asked me for the WW:U sequel–you will get it.  You asked me for the novels: you will get them.

I just have to sort the how.

Hope for Jathen & offcial University release date

So, the list of publishers currently holding my Way Walkers manuscript Way Walkers: Tazu, aka ‘Jathen’ to read it just grew this week by 2.  Of course, they are two *very* big names, though i don’t want to name them as of yet, simply because i am a superstitious little thing.  XD   It shall be a while until we hear anything, as it always is with publishers (last one took 5 months to get back to us) but in the meanwhile, cross your fingers, people.

I’m aiming to do this writing thing for a while. 😉

Also–

Guess what, people!!! I just got the official release date for the interactive novel, Way Walkers: University! It will go live on August 31rst, 2012, and will be downloadable in the app stores for both apple and android! There will also be a version downloadable to computers, and as soon as i have the link, you will see it here! Squee!
